Virat Kohli, who is known as the King in the cricket world, has become one of the stalwarts of Indian cricket now. With 77 international centuries, he is on his way to breaking the record of 100 international centuries, which is currently held by the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.

The run-machine Kohli has over 8600 runs in the longest format of the game with 29 centuries and 29 half-centuries. Who would have thought that Kohli was going to achieve this much when his Test career was in jeopardy?

Here's what Sehwag revealed in 2016 about Kohli being dropped from Tests:

"The selectors wanted to play Rohit Sharma instead of Kohli at Perth in 2012, I was vice-captain and Dhoni was leading the team, and we decided that we have to back Kohli. The rest is history" Sehwag said.

When Virat was struggling for runs in the longest format of the game in 2012, the selection committee wanted to drop him and play Rohit Sharma instead, who was yet to make his Test debut. India was touring Australia and Kohli was about to get dropped from the Perth Test. But the captain MS and vice-captain Sehwag backed him and the rest is history.

When Kohli was about to get dropped, MS and Sehwag decided to back him and give him one more chance. Kohli got a chance to play the Perth Test and scored 44 and 75, which was more than enough for the management to continue with him. In the next Test which was in Adelaide, Kohli smashed a century and he was the only centurion from the tour.

Adelaide has proven to be lucky for Kohli and he just love smashing the bowlers of Australia. And who knew that he will be leading the Indian team in two years time? Kohli not just only led India but also won the Test series in and against Australia.
