Cricket is a sport, where several kinds of dismissals exist, and the County Championship is a tournament that has its fair share of funny incidents. A fun-filled incident took place in the ongoing Country Championship Division One 2023 between Somerset and Kent, involving batter Lewis Goldsworthy.

Batting on 79 on Day 3, Goldsworthy got himself hit-wicket off Jaskaran Singh's bowling, with a chunk of his bat breaking off and crashing into the stumps. However, as luck would have it, the on-field umpire adjured the delivery illegal as Jaskaran had over-stepped, and the ball was deemed no-ball.

The young Somerset batter went on to register his second First-Class ton, scoring 122 off 203, eventually getting out to Singh.

In 21 FC matches, Goldsworthy has scored 977 runs with two tons and three fifties since making his debut in 2021.

At stumps on Day 3, Somerset are 404 for 4, thanks to Tom Lammonby and Goldsworthy scoring 109 and 122, respectively. England's new ODI recruit Tom Kohler-Cadmore and wicketkeeper James Rew will resume batting on 68* and 3* when Day 4 begins.

Day 2 was a wash-out due to rains, after Somerset scored 214 for 2 on Day 1 of the Taunton encounter. Somerset are placed sixth in the Division One table with three wins, four losses, and five draws, while Kent is placed ninth with two wins, seven losses, and three draws.
