In a throwback video dating back to September 2023, former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni was captured facing US President Donald Trump in an epic golf contest. Dhoni was on a vacation to the USA where he met Trump and spent time playing golf together.
The people of the USA have chosen their next President in Republican candidate Donald Trump. Having previously held the White House office from 2017-2021, Trump has been reelected for a second term after he beat Democratic Party candidate and sitting vice president Kamala Harris by a significant margin.
Donald Trump has always been a controversial politician with numerous legal cases registered against him in USA courts. However, his love for India is well-known. He visited the country during his previous term and shared great regards for the people of India.
MS Dhoni once spent time playing golf with US President
Besides politics, Donald Trump is also popular amongst the sports fraternity. To those unversed, Trump shares a great rapport with former Indian cricketer and World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni. The duo met during Dhoni's vacation to the USA in 2023 and spent time together. The president invited MS Dhoni for a golf contest and the cricketer obliged for the same.
The video of the unexpected crossover went viral within minutes as Indian fans boasted of Dhoni's popularity in the west. During their meet in September, 2023, Trump had just announced his candidacy for presidential race and Dhoni's meet up was adjudged as an endorsement. However, the cricketer never indulged in any social media activity to disclose his meeting with Donald Trump.
MS Dhoni to return in IPL 2025
Amid much speculation, MS Dhoni agreed to terms with CSK owners to be retained as an uncapped player for INR 4 crores for the upcoming IPL 2025. Dhoni last played an international game 5 years ago and fits into the bracket of the rule of retired players allowed to be retained in the uncapped category. Hence, with the mega auction in sight, CSK convinced Dhoni to take a pay cut to manage finances.
