In a heartfelt gesture, former South African cricket legend AB de Villiers celebrated Virat Kohli’s 36th birthday on November 5, 2024, with a warm social media post. De Villiers and Kohli, who were teammates at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), shared a remarkable friendship both on and off the field. 

Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers played for the RCB team in IPL between 2011 and 2021, and curated some of the most iconic moments with record-breaking partnerships. De Villiers initially signed with the Delhi Capitals in IPL but eventually came to settle at RCB where he shared 3123 runs with Kohli.

Even after de Villiers’ retirement post-2021, their friendship stayed. As Virat Kohli celebrates his 36th birthday today, ABD sent a heartfelt post for him on social media. The Protea referred to him as ‘biscuit,’ a nickname he coined during their time with RCB. 

He also wished Kohli good fortune and prosperity for the future and wanted him to reach many more hundreds in this career. The legacies of being good friends stay as eternal memories to millions, as this instance also reflects on the bond Kohli and AB enjoys off the ground.

Recently, Virat Kohli also extended his heartfelt tribute to AB on the latter getting inducted into ICC Hall of Fame. Virat called him an absolute legend and someone he’s had the privilege to play with. De Villiers responded to the tribute stating that it was special and a touching gesture from Virat.
