Jubilations erupted within the CSK camp following Ravindra Jadeja’s six and a four against Gujarat Titans’ Mohit Sharma in the IPL 2023 summit clash. Playing in front of a near capacity crowd at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the ‘Men in Yellow’ clinched their fifth IPL title, thus seemingly giving their legendary skipper MS Dhoni a farewell for the ages.

While much was speculated about Dhoni’s CSK future in the lead up to the 2023 season, the cricketer has now himself clarified his stance with the franchise.

MS Dhoni hints of a potential comeback in 2024

While scores of die-hard CSK and MS Dhoni fans turned up at the stadium to possibly watch their idol for the final time in professional cricket, the legendary wicketkeeper might well don his yellow jersey one more time next year.

After defeating Gujarat Titans in a nail-biting final, commentator Harsha Bhogle seemingly asked Dhoni whether it was his last IPL hurrah or will he return to entertain his fans next season. The former Indian captain, at nearly 42 years of age, gave a mixed response by stating that he will decide if his body holds up for another year.

Dhoni also acknowledged the current occasion as a perfect moment to retire, but added that the love and support he receives from his fans might well prompt him to play next year as a return gift for them.

Meanwhile, the victory over defending champions Titans gave MS Dhoni’s CSK pantheons their fifth IPL title. With the win, the legendary skipper also equalled Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma as IPL’s most successful captain in terms of trophies.

Notably, the CSK legend also has two Champions League titles to his name, having won the now-defunct tournament back in 2010 and 2014.
