Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma has touted Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera to follow the footsteps of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya and play for the Indian team in the near future.

Recently, Hardik stated that Mumbai Indians don't make good players, rather they buy the best talent. In reply, Rohit stressed that MI's two talented players, scouted by the management will play for India in the near future.

Tilak Varma, was the standout performer for the Mumbai Indians last season, however, this season the elegant southpaw has only played nine matches due to injury and has racked up 274 runs in IPL 2023.

Just like Tilak, Wadhera has turned out to be the find of the season. In Tilak's absence, Wadhera has taken command of the middle order and has scored 214 runs in 12 matches so far.

Speaking about both the talented batters, Rohit has backed the youngsters to follow Hardik and Bumrah's footsteps, who played an integral role in MI's dominance and went onto become the vital cog for India as well.

“Honestly it’s going to be the same story what has happened with (Jasprit) Bumrah, Hardik (Pandya) and all these guys. That’s the same story that will happen with guys like Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera. Watch the next two years, then people will say ‘arey ye toh superstar team hai (they’re a team full of superstars)’," Rohit told Jio Cinema.

He added: “These guys are being scouted and they are trained. These two guys are gonna be huge stars for us, and for India," he added.

Talking about the ongoing IPL, Mumbai Indians will be in action tonight when they take on the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator. Tilak's participation is still doubtful, and in his absence, Wadhera will have the responsibility to take care of the middle order.
