Gujarat Titans opener Wriddhiman Saha returned to form with a sublime 41* against Rajasthan Royals in match number 48 of the ongoing IPL 2023 season. The cricketer top-scored for his side in an easy run-chase in Jaipur and was assisted by opening partner Shubman Gill and captain Hardik Pandya at the crease.

The trio led the Titans to an early nine-wicket win, with more than six overs still intact in the game. After the match, the wicketkeeper-batsman credited bowlers for shooting out the Royals for a paltry total and setting up an easy run-chase for them in the second innings.

Saha reveals wicketkeeping technique for Rashid Khan

Wriddhiman Saha said that the team has been following the same benchmark they set in their victorious IPL campaign from last year. He further praised the Gujarat Titans bowling department for their match-winning contributions this season.

The cricketer also cited the team’s collective efforts in bowling as the reason behind the constant moving around of this year’s Purple Cap. Notably, the ‘Purple Cap’ is currently helmed by Titans speedster Mohammed Shami, with his teammate Rashid Khan second in the illustrious wicket-taking race of the season.

After the match against Rajasthan Royals, Saha said:

“We have been continuing with the benchmark we set last year. Not just one, but all the bowlers are contributing, which is why the Purple Cap has been moving around!”

The senior wicketkeeper also acknowledged his own return to batting form, as he faced just 34 deliveries to leave an unbeaten 41 in the run-chase. He said that a few good shots within the powerplay gave him confidence for a big score.

“My role is to cash on in the powerplay. A few shots gave me the confidence,”

Saha also revealed how he manages to keep whenever mystery spinners Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad are on. He said:

“The later I try and move to Rashid and Noor, the more it helps me to make up even if I can't read the googly.”

Saha will now turn up for the Gujarat Titans in their subsequent fixture, i.e., a home game against Lucknow Super Giants on May 7.
