Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise were dealt a massive blow after New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson was ruled out due to a relapse of his back injury. CSK, quick to act, announced South Africa's Sisanda Magala as Jamieson's replacement.

Magala played in the inaugural SA20 League and won the title with Sunrisers Eastern Cape, finishing with 14 wickets.

Speaking on the eve of the rescheduled second ODI between South Africa and the Netherlands, Magala said that IPL 2023 is a massive opportunity, and he is nervous to turn up for CSK.

The 32-year-old recently starred for the Proteas in a losing effort in the first T20I against West Indies, scoring a quick-fire 18 and claiming three wickets.

As quoted by India Today, Magala, who has only seen the IPL on TV, revealed that the bowler has asked people around him about the IPL, and looks forward to learning new things with the franchise.

Here's what Magala said

"I'm very happy to be given an opportunity to play in the IPL. When you get to specialise in white ball cricket, then it indeed becomes the pinnacle. It's a massive opportunity, and to be honest, I'm very nervous."

The Port Elizabeth-born has played five ODIs and 6 T20Is for South Africa since 2021.

The MS Dhoni-led CSK will kick off their IPL 2023 campaign against the defending chmpions Gujarat Titans tonight at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
