Former skipper Sandeep Lamicchane will fly out to the UAE and join Nepal for the remainder of their ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) League 2 series. Lamichhane has been named as a replacement for Mousom Dhakal, who picked up a shoulder injury in the nets.

Nepal are playing against Papua New Guinea (PNG) and hosts UAE in this leg of the CWC. Team management have been constantly figuring out ways to draft the leg-spinner into the national side after his clearance to travel abroad was approved by Nepal's Supreme Court.

Nepal's leading-wicket taker (55) in CWC League 2, is currently out on bail after the player was charged with sexual assault last October.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed the same in a tweet on a social media site.

Here's what CAN tweeted

"Sandeep Lamichhane will be travelling to the UAE to join Team Nepal as a replacement for injured Shyam (Mousom) Dhakal, who was injured during net practice. Mousom suffered a shoulder injury while batting in the net practice session on February 28, 2023."

Nepal have started the Dubai leg with a win, beating UAE by four wickets on Monday and will be taking on PNG tomorrow.

Nepal are placed seventh in CWC League-2.

The former Delhi Capitals player starred for Nepal in their last CWC tri-nation series at home, claiming 13 wickets in four matches in his comeback to national colours.
