In a significant development, veteran Australian spinner Steve O'Keefe has extended his association with Sydney Sixers. The left-arm tweaker has signed a one-year contract extension, which will see him don the Sixers' jersey for one more time in the Big Bash League 2023-24.

Head of Sydney Sixers, Mr Jonathan Robinson-Lees welcomed the experienced campaigner, hailing him for his incredible contributions for the club's success over the years.

"Steve is a foundation player and an important leader for the Sixers. It's no coincidence that Steve has been such a large part of the Sixers' on-field success. His cricket nous and understanding of the T20 format have been instrumental for the club for over a decade. We are excited for him to be returning for BBL|13 and know that Sixers fans look forward to seeing him again next summer."

O'Keefe has been a vital cog of the Sixers' setup since 2012, helping him clinch three BBL titles in this period.

Overall, the 38-year-old is the fourth most successful spinner in the league's history, scalping 90 wickets in 93 outings at a surreal economy of 6.68.

He has weaved his magic in this season as well, claiming 12 wickets at a superb economy of six in eight appearances.

Meanwhile, after losing the qualifier to Perth Scorchers, the Sixers will cross swords against Brisbane Heat in the Challenger in Sydney today.
