At his IPL home ground, India's newly-crowned poster boy Shubman Gill got another pearl studded in his gold-plated hat. His 126 not out off just 63 deliveries has helped India post mammoth total of 234/4.

Prior to the series, Gill had already scored more than 500 runs in 2022; however, he had two subtle knocks in this series before coming out to bat at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

However, post Wednesday's knock, the 23-year-old carried his bat with his maiden T20I century and became the fifth man from India to score centuries across all three formats.

The Indian dasher has also become the second-youngest to notch hundreds across all formats, after Pakistan's Ahmed Shahzad, who completed it at 22 years and 127 days.

With this enthralling knock, the Gujarat Titans batter has gone past Virat Kohli, who scored his maiden T20I ton against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup last year. Kohli's 122* was India's highest score in T20I cricket till today; however, Gill has leapfrogged his predecessor.

The Indian opener is also the youngest man to smash a double century in ODI cricket, which also unfolded this year against the BlackCaps.

At the moment of writing, the Kiwis have lost their top-four batters with just 6 runs on the board after three overs. With the new ball, captain Hardik Pandya has scalped two wickets, while aspiring Arshdeep Singh has got two.
