A total of four teams locked horns on Saturday, January 28th in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Let's take a quick review of the action transpired.

Match 27: Comilla Victorians vs Khulna Tigers

Result: Comilla Victorians won by four runs.

Comilla Victorians sustained their winning streak in five consecutive games now as they beat Khulna Tigers in today’s afternoon game in Sylhet. After being put into bat first, the defending champions managed a formidable 165 in the first innings. Litton Das, once again got his side off to a great start. Das departed after completing his half century and stitched 65 runs for the first wicket with Mohammad Rizwan, who also went onto score an unbeaten 54. 

In the second innings, Khulna Tigers got off to a decent start but could only manage 64 in the first innings. Their top three comprising Tamim Iqbal, Andrew Balbirnie and Shai Hope could convert their slow start. Mahmudul Hasan Joy and skipper Yasir Ali did try to up the scoring rate but unfortunately a slow first six overs happened to cost them at the end. Naseem Shah was the pick of the bowlers for the Victorians, grabbing two wickets.

Match 28: Chattogram Challengers vs Sylhet Strikers

Result: Sylhet Strikers won by seven wickets.

Sylhet Strikers came back to winning ways as they beat the Challengers convincingly in the second game of the day. After electing to bat first, Chattogram Challengers posted a decent total of 174. Mehedi Maruf and Afif Hossain added 88 runs for the second wicket after the wicket of Usman Khan off the very first ball. However, Strikers were still controlling the game until Challengers’ skipper Shuvagata Hom turned everything around. Hom scored a brilliant unbeaten 54 off 29 and challengers scored 42 in the last three overs.

In reply, Sylhet Strikers got off to a flying start, thanks to some incredible stroke making from Najmul Shanto. Towhid Hridoy had a struggling stay and departed after stitching a 63-run opening partnership. Things did slowed down in the middle for some time but Riyan Burl, who was playing his first game in the tournament, started a counter attack and scored a brilliant 16-ball 41 cameo. The Strikers comfortably got across the line with two overs to spare.
