One of world cricket's best left-arm bowlers, Shaheen Shah Afridi is eying a Pakistan comeback after successfully undergoing surgery and rehabilitation. The lanky bowler has been troubled with a knee injury since last year and suffered a relapse of his injury during Pakistan's ICC T20 World Cup 2022 final against England, costing the side crucial death overs.

On Sunday, Afridi underwent full training with the Pakistan One-Day International squad due to a clash against New Zealand in first match today.

Speaking to GEO News, Afridi confirmed that he is feeling fitter than before and misses being in action for the national side.

Here's what Afridi said

"I am feeling much stronger than what I felt during the World Cup. I'm bowling with full rhythm and eager to make a comeback very soon. This week, which ended today, I bowled around 19 overs. Next week, I will be bowling around 25 overs. It is good to be back in the ground, I missed this all so much and I am thankful to the Almighty for this."

The 22-year-old is aiming to make a return to active cricket in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023, where his side the Lahore Qalandars will defend their title.

"The PSL is the biggest brand for Pakistan and I am looking forward to making my full comeback during that tournament."
