India's batting star Suryakumar Yadav lavished praise on his Mumbai Indians' mate and star all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who is set to lead the MI Emirates in the inaugural season of the International League T20 (ILT20).

The former West Indies captain has played a key role in Mumbai Indians' success in the Indian Premier League, where they went on to win five IPL titles in 13 years, two of them in consecutive seasons.

Pollard led Mumbai Indians on several occasions in the absence of Rohit Sharma and has been quite successful as well. The Caribbean all-rounder announced retirement from IPL, and will now be involved with Mumbai Indians as the batting coach.

During an interaction with MI TV, the Mumbai batter opened up on Pollard’s leadership skill, stating he will be a successful captain in ILT20 as well, given he has plenty of experience when it comes to leading the teams.

Here's what Suryakumar Yadav said:

"I feel as a leader Pollard has been very calm, composed and gives everyone a chance to express themselves on the field whether the team is under the pump or even if we are on top." Suryakumar further added, “We felt very comfortable when he led MI and I am sure he will do the same thing for the MI Emirates."

The inaugural edition of the ILT20 will kick off on January 13 with the final of the competition set to be played on February 12, 2023. MI Emirates will open their tournament campaign in Abu Dhabi against Sharjah Warriors on January 14.
