Lanka Premier League, Qualifier-2: Preview, Key Players, Prediction

The second qualifier of the Lanka Premier League 2022 will see the Kandy Falcons take on the Colombo Stars at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday. The winner of this clash will face off against the Jaffna Kings in the final on Friday.

In a rain-interrupted Qualifier 1, Jaffna Kings defeated Kandy Falcons to book a seat for the finals. 

The Falcons were absolutely terrific in the group stage where they won seven out of eight games to secure the top spot while their opponents Colombo won just three games out of eight to make it through to the eliminator where they got the better of Galle Gladiators.

Overall, both these sides have clashed five times in history with Stars ahead of the Falcons by a margin of 3-2.

In the two games these sides have clashed this season, Kandy dominated heavily by winning both games with a convincing performance.

Key Players

• Carlos Brathwaite has been terrific this season with an unbelievable 17 wickets in just 7 innings at an economy rate of 6.39.
• Kasun Rajitha has bowled decently in the competition by scalping 8 wickets from 6 matches while giving runs at an economy of 6.26.

Prediction

If we look at the performance of both the teams this season, Kandy by far are the superior side as they have just lost two matches in the entire tournament. Hence, expect them to triumph and move on to the finals.
