Kandy Falcons secured a three-wicket victory over Jaffna Kings in Match 6 of the Lanka Premier League 2022 on Saturday at Pallekele.

Kings post a competitive total

Invited to bat first, Avishka Fernando (31) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (16) provided a good start to the Kings by adding 38 runs for the first wicket. However, Dhananjaya de Silva (10) and Samarawickrama (14) could not provide enough contributions.

It took the calm heads of Shoaib Malik (28) and Dunith Wellalage (20) to help the team in posting 147 on the board. Isuru Udana, Fabian Allen and Wanindu Hasaranga picked two wickets apiece for the Falcons.

Bandara, Karunaratne drive Falcons to a victory

In reply, Pathum Nissanka was impressive with an impressive knock of 29 off 24 balls. Conversely, Andre Fletcher (11) and Kamindu Mendis (19) could not convert their starts to big innings.

Arriving at No.4, Ashen Bandara steered the team in a proficient fashion. He weathered the storm, when Carlos Brathwaite, Fabian Allen and Wanindu Hasaranga fell cheaply.

Bandara hit 44* off 39, before retiring out to bring Udana, when the team required 16 off the last over.  The talented striker Chamika Karunaratne (26*) hit two sixes to seal the chase for the team.

Brief Scores:
