The season of upsets continues as Bangladesh served India a reality check as the hosts defeated the visitors by 1 wicket in the opening fixture of the three match ODI series.
Bowling first Bangladesh were just exceptional with the ball as Shakib Al Hasan led the charge for his team wicking up five wickets in the contest. He was well supported by Ebadot Hossain who bagged four wickets for the Tigers crippling India to just 186 runs on the board.
KL Rahul who has sent down the middle order was India's only saving grace in the entire innings as the batter played a very crucial knock of 73 runs off 70 deliveries to help the Blues get to a respectable total on the board.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh seemed like they were all over the Indian bowlers at the start with skipper Litton Das scoring 41 runs off 63 deliveries to give the team a base after losing Najmul Shanto in the very first delivery of the innings.
India seemed to get their groove back in the game as India at one point looked like the favourites to win the match getting Bangladesh down to 136/9.
However, what came next was unexpected at all fronts, against all odds Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman stitched an unbeaten 54* runs partnership off 42 deliveries for the 10th wicket to give Bangladesh with 24 balls remaining.
KL Rahul 73(70), Rohit Sharma 27(31)
Shakib Al Hasan 5/36, Ebadot Hossain 4/47
Litton Das 41(63), Mehidy Hasa Miraz 38*(39)
Mohammed Siraj 3/32, Washington Sundar 2/17
Bangladesh won by a wicket and take 1-0 lead in the series
