Moises Henriques surpasses Brad Haddin, Michael Bevan and Steve Waugh in an elite list for New South Wales

On the day when Pat Cummins became Australia's first ever bowling captain in the ODI cricket since the late Shane Warne, another Australian all-rounder added a feather in his hat. On Thursday, Moises Henriques surpassed Brad Haddin to become the highest run-scorer for New South Wales in the Marsh Cup history.
Henriques, while batting at Number 3 against Tasmania, scored an 11-ball 13 before he was dismissed by off-break bowler Tom Andrews. Despite a failure with the bat, the NSW legend went past Haddin by taking a couple on the last delivery of the 37th over. Now, he has 2731 runs from 91 matches with the highest score of 164*.
In the elite list of top-scorers among NSW players in Marsh Cup, the 35-year-old jumped to the top spot, where Haddin, Michael Bevan, Phil Jaques and Steve Waugh are among the top-getters.
Coming back to the Portugal-born, despite being a high calibre player, he failed to replicate his domestic performances at the international level. After representing the national side for 34 outings, the player only managed 636 runs at an average of 17.19 and scalped a meagre 17 wickets.
During his prime days, Henriques represented Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bangalore and Punjab in the Indian Premier League; where he was an integral part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad outfit that won in 2016.
The NSW legend last played in the Indian extravaganza in 2021, and went unsold last year, and with the looks of it, things are unlikely to change for the player despite decent performances in the domestic circuit.
