With T20 leagues cropping all over the globe, the demand for players is on the rise. One of the biggest cricketing markets - India, remains untapped for many other leagues, with no Indian players permitted to play.

Ever since the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2007, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that no active or contractually bound player will be allowed to participate in other 20-overs competitions.

New IPL chairman Arun Dhumal in a recent interview reconfirmed the same, that Indian players will continue to away from other leagues. According to NDTVSports, Dhumal revealed that the BCCI is planning to make the IPL bigger and better going forward.

"This in principle is the decision of BCCI that our contracted players can't go and play for other leagues. As it is there is so much of cricket happening. Keeping in mind their overall well-being that decision has been taken. As of now we stick to that decision.

Even the non contracted ones are aspiring to play for India,"

Dhumal further stated that the board is open to the idea of playing IPL exhibition matches overseas, which has been a long-standing request of the franchises.

The former BCCI treasurer also expressed his confidence that the inaugural Women's IPL will be a world-class property, once it begins next year.
