Since former Yorkshire player Azeem Rafiq opened up on alleged racism in county cricket, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is on a clean-up. On Monday, the ECB's Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) reprimanded as many as five players for their historical social media posts which displayed hints of 'racism'.

Gale along with 15 other staff members, were sacked by Yorkshire County Cricket Club over the allegations.

Rafiq and former Yorkshire coach Andrew Gale were charged with using anti-Semitic language in their social media posts, which were reported after the former's explosive revelations.

Rafiq took to Twitter to apologise for his behaviour.

"This summer, I unequivocally accepted a charge from the ECB regarding my anti-Semitic social media post from 2011. You will hear no complaint from me about the CDC's decision today,"

It was in August that Gale and Yorkshire came to an out-of-court settlement, costing the club a hefty payment.

England Women's cricketers Danni Wyatt and Evelyn Jones were also charged over an Instagram post that contained the wording "fancy dress with blackface" apart from an inappropriate caption.

Veteran Somerset fast bowler Jack Brooks was also found using a racially offensive word.
