County Championship 2022: Keith Barker named PCA Player of the Year

Keith Barker has been crowned the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA) Player of the Year for his performances in the County Championship 2022. 

The concerned award is presented in the Men's and Women's categories and is an annual event. 

Barker was prolific in the 2022 season with contributions in both departments. He slammed 595 runs at an average of 29.75 and scalped 52 wickets in 14 games. 


The 35-year-old was the team's second-highest wicket-taker, and joint fourth-highest in the Division One. His performances helped Hampshire to finish third on the table with nine wins in 14 league matches. 

Over the years, Barker has been one of the finest players in English domestic cricket. In 153 first-class games, he has 4992 runs and scalped 497 wickets. The experienced all-rounder started his career with Warwickshire in 2009 and switched to Hampshire from the 2019 season. 

Barker has been impressive in the white-ball cricket as well, but features mostly in the longest format for Hampshire. He did not play any of the matches in the T20 Blast 2022, which eventually witnessed the team securing a thrilling title victory.
