In an unfortunate turn of events, former Australian opener Michael Slater has been hospitalised after being arrested for breaching his bail bond.

Slater, 52, was arrested from his home in Sydney's Northern Beaches on Thursday evening after a woman made multiple emergency calls to the authorities, as reported by the nzherald.

The former Australian player has a history of mental-related issues and is a known offender for breaking his bail on multiple occasions. The New South Wales (NSW) police have seemingly applied for an interim apprehended-violence order to ensure the woman, who was with Slater at the time of his arrest.

Slater is expected not to be within 100m of the woman's house or office and shall not assault, threaten, stalk, harass intimidate the 53-year-old as well.

The NSW police statement

"About 9.30pm on Thursday 22 September 2022, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command responded to a report of a male allegedly causing a disturbance at a house at Wyuna Avenue, Freshwater,"

"Police arrived and spoke with a 52-year-old man who was not a resident of the premises. The man was arrested after police detected he was allegedly in breach of bail. He was taken to Manly Police Station and later conveyed to Northern Beaches Hospital for assessment. Inquiries continue."

Slater has played 74 Tests and 42 ODIs for Australia between 1993 and 2001, scoring 6299 runs across formats.
