Temba Bavuma has been receiving support from fans and peers after a snub at the SA20 auction. The white-ball captain went unsold in the inaugural auction of the new Cricket South Africa T20 franchise league.

Outgoing head coach Mark Boucher has offered his support to the skipper. Opining that Bavuma should remain captain in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

What Boucher said

"Temba Bavuma is our leader, and I back him 100%," Boucher said ahead of the team's departure for their white-ball tour of India. "Yes, there is a lot of talk on social media about all the stuff, about this and that; I don't really care. He is our leader, and we back him in this team like you can't believe."

"The guys were there last night, we were having a couple of drinks, and I could just see the energy around him because I understand the situation he is going through. The bottom line is we are on a journey, and we have been on a journey the last two years."

"What happens in leagues and auctions, you can't control that; unfortunately, it is what it is. From a Proteas perspective, we do back him 100% and going into a massive tournament like a (T20) World Cup, he will be a massive part of our team."

South Africa's future

Bavuma missed the past two T20I series against England and Ireland. South Africa's batting squadron put on a particularly impressive show against the two teams, leaving Bavuma's place in the batting lineup in question. Followed by the batter being snubbed in the SA20 auction by all the six franchises has left Bavuma worried for his future as the Proteas captain.

The current head coach Mark Boucher has announced that he will part ways with the Proteas after the T20 World Cup next month. Leaving CSA in knots over who will be successor.
