Gujarat Giants continued their winning run in the ongoing Legends Cricket League 2022 as they beat Manipal Tigers by 2 wickets in a low-scoring encounter in Lucknow on Monday, September 19.

Chasing 121, Gujarat Giants made a meal out of it as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

Skipper Virender Sehwag (1 off 2) and Tilakaratne Dilshan (0 off 2) could manage just 1 run between them as Mpofu ran riot in the powerplay.

Opener Kevin O'Brien (23 off 19) and Parthiv Patel (34 off 17) steadied the ship with a brisk 42-run stand in the next 4 overs.

However, the dismissal of Parthiv at the hands of Parvinder Awana (2/13 in 3) triggered another collapse, with veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh (2/23 in 4) also chipping in with a couple.

However, handy contributions from Thisara Perera (22 off 20) and a couple of boundaries from Graeme Swann (9 off 6) ensured that Gujarat scraped past the finishing line in the 18th over.

Earlier, Manipal Tigers dished out a woeful display of batting as they crawled their way to an underwhelming 120-8 in 20 overs.

Batting first, the Tigers never really got going in their innings as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

This was not it. Even the batters who got in- Mohammad Kaif 24 (29) & R Shukla 32 (32)- were not able to infuse any momentum in the innings.

This was also thanks to some very disciplined bowling from the likes of Ashok Dinda (2/22 in 4), Swann (0/26 in 4) and crucial strikes in the form of Corey Anderson from T Dilshan.

Ultimately, a 9-ball 18 from Harbhajan lifted Manipal to 120/8, which nearly proved to be enough.
