Pakistan captain Babar Azam has had a stellar run with the bat this year. The cricketer piled up healthy scores against Australia and Sri Lanka, and also struck three successive half-centuries in the Netherlands ODIs.

Moreover, Azam also maintained his number one status at the ICC T20I batting rankings, thus culminating a perfect setup for himself on the road to the T20I World Cup in Australia. However, just a month before the event, the right-hander suffered a slump in form and lost his throne, yielding just 68 runs across six innings of the 2022 Asia Cup.

Babar Azam hopes to regain form against England

Pakistan is about to host England in a seven-match T20I series between September 20 and October 2. The series marks as Pakistan’s final set of fixtures before the T20I World Cup, as well as a testing ground for the ‘Men in Green’ for the tournament.

While speaking with the reporters ahead of the series opener, captain Azam stated that he is hoping to regain his lost touch with the bat. The cricketer believes that finding form before the main event would be good for him as well as for the team. He said:

“I hope to return to my best in this series... and it will be good if it happens before the World Cup. I think less about failures when going through a bad patch. As a batsman your focus is to do your best to regain your form and it would be great to do that before the World Cup.”

Pakistan’s T20I World Cup campaign will commence with a high-profile Group B clash against arch-rivals India on October 23. Here is a look at their 15-player squad for the competition.
