Kent Spitfires captain, Joe Denly, was ecstatic after guiding his side to a memorable victory in the finals of the Royal London ODI Cup against a spirited Lancashire side.

Denly returned from injury during the group stage and his calm presence and clear thinking has been the reason for a remarkable turnaround for the Kent side.

Kent looked confident in the finals and the result was a 21-run win to claim the coveted trophy and skipper Denly certainly enjoyed the win.

"It's never been at the top of my list to do but I've certainly enjoyed it this year, with our big boys away at The Hundred. With the experience and amount of cricket I've played it does help. I hope the lads enjoyed playing under my captaincy.

As a captain, I try to remain as calm as I can and hopefully that rubs off on the bowlers and takes a bit of pressure off them."

Denly continued his good run of form and scored a 68-ball 79, laced with 8 fours and a six. There were few eyebrows raised when Denly opted to bat first after winning the toss, but the decision paid dividend as they eventually crossed the winning line with ease.
