Roelof Van der Merwe returns as Netherlands announce T20 World Cup 2022 squad

Netherlands Cricket on Tuesday ( 6 September) announced a strong squad for T20 World Cup 2022. 

The likes of Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann have returned, who will provide much-needed experience to the team. Merwe featured in the 2022 editions of Hundred and T20 Blast, wherein he displayed all-round abilities and acrobatic fielding skills. 

Ackermann scored more than 600 games in the County Championship, with a top score of 277*. 

Netherlands made their entry into the T20 World Cup, with a strong performance in the T20 WC Qualifiers. They emerged as a runner-up in the competition, after losing to Zimbabwe in the Finals. 

Scott Edwards will lead the side, with a talented pace attack comprising Brandon Glover, Timm van der Gugten, Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeren.

Netherlands Head coach happy with team's progress

 Head coach Ryan Cook thinks they have put together a strong squad, and are confident to continue their rich form in the show-piece event. 

“We have assembled a well balanced squad with an exciting blend of youth and experience for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

"The experience playing in the Super League will stand the team in good stead and good confidence can be taken from these performances."
