'I think it's exciting' - Sam Robson on England's red-ball future

It is certainly the start of a new era in English red-ball cricket, with the new captain-coach pair of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum chalking out the right plans for England's second Test win in the last 18 fixtures.

Although these are still baby steps, the Three Lions seem to be on the right path to revive their red-ball fortunes. It may seem like just a win, but for England, it comes in the form of a golden ticket on their road to recovery.

Amidst the victory, excitement is gripping the entire nation, with fans and pundits looking positively towards the future.

Sam Robson, who was in the line for a Test recall in the New Zealand series, commented on how he expects England's red-ball side to shape up in the times ahead.

In an exclusive interview with OneCricket, Robson mentioned that the pair of Stokes and McCullum will compliment each other as they have the same mindset.

"I think it's gonna be exciting. From the little bits have had to do with Brendon McCullum when he played at Middlesex for a few years which isn't my forte. But still sort of getting to know him a little bit and seeing him in action, he is obviously very positive in every way he goes about the game," Robson said.

"And then you tie that with Ben Stokes who is similar minded. You have got two guys who are gonna try and have a real craft. I think it's exciting," the Middlesex batter added.

Further, the 32-year-old stated that he, being part of the domestic circuit, is quite aware of how few top talents are in the making and if it all works well, England may again become a formidable force in the long version of the game.

"It was a tough winter. But there is a lot of promising players out there and some of the young guys that are being discussed and some of the guys that have been in and out, I know there are top-class players if they get the knack of it," Robson asserted.
