Yuzvendra Chahal dashed defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with a sensational four-wicket haul in match number 31 of the IPL 2025 season. The senior Punjab Kings spinner picked up the important wickets of KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane, Impact Sub Angkrish Raghuvanshi, hard-hitting radical Rinku Singh and middle-order star Ramandeep Singh all in quick succession as the hosts secured a 16-run win in a low-scoring thriller.
Through the course of his match-winning spell, Chahal also levelled up with KKR legend Sunil Narine for a huge IPL record. Here is a look at the significance of Chahal’s newfound landmark, along with other elite bowlers in the list.
Chahal among bowlers with most four-fers
Yuzvendra Chahal made his IPL debut back in 2013 for the Mumbai Indians franchise. To date, the cricketer has played 166 IPL matches, picking up 211 wickets in the process to remain the most successful bowler in the history of the tournament.
Notably, Chahal’s latest match-winning spell against KKR also marked his eighth four-wicket haul in IPL, as he levelled up with Sunil Narine in terms of the highest number of four-fers to their name in the Indian T20 carnival. Here is a look at five bowlers with most four-fers to their names in IPL.
Multiple 4-plus wicket hauls in the IPL:
Bowler | Number of four-fers in IPL |
Yuzvendra Chahal | 8 |
Sunil Narine | 8 |
Lasith Malinga | 7 |
Kagiso Rabada | 6 |
Amit Mishra | 5 |
Yuzvendra Chahal’s latest spell also marked his third four-wicket haul against KKR, thus becoming the bowler with most four-fers to his name against a single opponent in IPL history.
For claiming figures of 4-28 from his four overs, the cricketer fittingly bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award after Punjab Kings’ 16-run win. The cunning Indian spinner will now face RCB alongside the rest of his Punjab Kings teammates on April 18.
