The IPL 2025 match between the Punjab Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders produced the game of the season as they endured a shocking defeat on Tuesday. The Ajinkya Rahane led side had one step past the winning line at the half-way mark, but Shreyas Iyer's team produced a miracle to snatch the win.

Rahane puts all blame on himself

KKR needed 112 to go on top of the table and it was expected that they'll chase down the total with ease. However. Yuzvendra Chahal (4 wickets) and Marco Jansen (3 wickets) ran riot and bundled out KKR for a paltry 95.

After the match, captain Ajinkya Rahane took all the blame for playing the wrong shot when his team needed him the most in the chase.

"Nothing to express. We all saw what happened there. I will take the blame as the captain of the team. I played the wrong shot, it was missing but still I will take the blame."

He added: "Till when I was batting there, we were thinking about 2 points. Wicket was not that easy, 111 was still chaseable. We batted really badly. The bowlers did really well on the surface to restrict a strong Punjab batting line-up for 111."

PBKS defend the lowest total in IPL history

PBKS came into this match on the back of an embarrassing loss Vs SRH and they had a nightmarish start in this game as the home side lost a flurry of wickets and crumbled in front of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy.

However, they showed their fighting spirit and by knocking over KKR for a mere 95, the Punjab side defended the lowest total in IPL history.

The previous lowest total defended was by CSK - 116/9 vs KXIP (Durban, 2009). However, the Iyer led side broke that record too.
