In the ongoing Test match between India and Bangladesh at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, Bangladesh lost their first wicket while chasing a mammoth total of 515 runs. India striked early in the third session on day three as Jasprit Bumrah drew the first blood for the hosts.
A lot occurred on day three as Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill stitched a 167-run stand for the fourth wicket to post a commendable total on the board. Soon after Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill completed their centuries, Rohit Sharma declared the innings.
Chasing 515, Bangladesh got off to a positive note as Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam stitched a 62-run stand for the first wicket. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah striked on the 2nd ball of the 17th over to get rid of Zakir.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Takes A One-Handed Blinder
Despite Bumrah's efforts, Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the limelight, and took a blinder standing at the gully. Jaiswal dived to his left and took a stunning one-handed catch. He was ecstatic with his efforts, and the other Indian players were also in awe of the RR opener's catch. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill also hogged the internet for his reaction as he put both his hand on the head and was in disbelief.
Jaiswal Goes Past Gavaskar's 51-Year-Old Record
Jaiswal has had a decent outing with the bat. He looked promising in the first innings and scored a fifty. Jaiswal amassed 56 (118), which featured nine fours. In the second innings, he failed to convert his start and fell for 10 (17). Nonetheless, Jaiswal went past Sunil Gavaskar's record for most runs after 10 Tests.
Jaiswal broke the 51-year-old record which Gavaskar set in 1973. Notably, Jaiswal has amassed 1094 runs in Test cricket after ten matches and went past Gavaskar's record of 978 runs.
