India's star opener, Shubman Gill, has truly made a name for himself with his resilience and determination. Known as the Prince of India, he took on the responsibility and smashed second Test century against Bangladesh on Saturday during the ongoing first Test match in Chennai.

On Day 3, the right-handed batter stepped in at 33* off 64 balls, eyeing a substantial score. Alongside Rishabh Pant, he forged a formidable partnership, amassing 138 runs by lunch. After Pant reached his century, Gill accelerated and, off 161 balls, achieved his second Test century, finishing his innings with 9 boundaries and 3 sixes.

It was the 60th over of India’s second innings when Gill reached his century. Facing a full-length delivery around the off stump from Mehidy Hasan Miraz at 81.5 kmph, Gill got forward and flicked it with the spin to the right of mid-wicket for a single.

This performance came as a response to his earlier dismissal for a golden duck in the first innings, shutting his critics with a classy knock.

India Set Up A Mammoth 515-Run Target

With his century, Gill secured his fifth Test ton, leaving fans in awe as he received a standing ovation. India set a daunting target of 515 runs for Bangladesh, capitalising on a shaky start where they lost three wickets on Day 1, finishing at 176 for six at tea. However, a remarkable seventh-wicket partnership between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja revitalised India’s innings.

On Day 2, India was bowled out for 376, while Bangladesh struggled to respond, managing only 149 runs against a relentless Indian bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed four wickets. Despite a shaky start to their second innings, with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissed cheaply, Gill and Pant worked to resurrect the innings. Gill remained unbeaten on 119 as India declared at 287 for 4, leaving Bangladesh with a mountain to climb.
