While RCB-W somehow stole a win, the top order was exposed at the start. The skipper, Smriti Mandhana, was dismissed cheaply, and had Richa Ghosh not stepped in with a pacey half-century, RCB could have landed in deep waters.

Fortunately, with the ball, a young Asha Sobhana scripted history with a maiden five-wicket haul. Nevertheless, Mandhana needs to have more clarity with her bowling changes. She used seven bowlers against UP Warriorz, which reflected confusion with the lineup composition.

Regardless, RCB-W will undoubtedly start as favorites owing to momentum and home advantage.

Gujarat Giants Women

Meanwhile, GUJ-W suffered a tough loss against defending champions Mumbai Indians Women in their season-opening game. A batting order collapse followed by standard fielding efforts exposed the Giants' shortcomings pretty early into the season.

However, the bowling department stepped up to restrict the inflow of runs in the middle overs. That is a big positive the team can take through along the season.

But at the end of the day, T20 is a game of batters, and until the top order does not step up, the Giants women shouldn't expect a change of fortunes.
