For the penultimate fixture of the PSL 2024 season’s Lahore leg, Islamabad United will be fighting against Peshawar Zalmi at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium on Monday from 7.30 PM IST onwards.
Both teams are running parallel on the points table, having endured a fair share of struggles this new PSL season.
ISU vs PES: Team Previews
Islamabad United
Islamabad United lost their previous fixture to Quetta Gladiators by the barest margin after a bizarre DRS review went against their favor.
Despite posting a below-par total of 138 runs on board, the United managed to make a game out of it with tight bowling. However, Mohammad Amir held his nerves to take his team through the finish line.
While technology proved to be a curse for Islamabad United, they only have themselves to blame for the loss. Skipper Shadab Khan, especially, has been out of touch. Yet he chooses to promote himself up the order over the likes of Azam Khan and Jordan Cox, who can actually cause some destruction.
With the ball, Naseem Shah is still struggling with his rhythm in the aftermath of a shoulder injury. Additionally, Imad Wasim was expensive in the previous game.
Overall, the combination is not hitting the sweet spot for Islamabad United as they navigate their way through the brand-new PSL season.
Peshawar Zalmi
Peshawar Zalmi handed defending champions Lahore Qalandars their fifth consecutive loss of the PSL 2024 season on Sunday. Saim Ayub and Babar Azam exposed the Qalandars' bowling unit, which was, in fact, missing a big piece in Haris Rauf, by slamming 136 runs for the opening stand.
However, despite putting up 211 runs on the board, Lahore Qalandars managed to make a game out of it and fought till the final over. With 18 needed off the final six deliveries, Azam trusted Paul Walter and the latter finished the job with ease.
That being said, the biggest positive of the game for Zalmi was Ayub's return to form. He gave Roman Powell a platform to capitalize, and the all-rounder banked 46 runs off 20 deliveries to surpass the 200 runs figure.
Overall, the win against Lahore Qalandars will surely boost Babar Azam and Co.'s confidence as they aim to move upward in the points table after the initial setback.

ISU vs PES: Gaddafi Stadium Pitch Report
The pitch at Gaddafi Stadium played fantastic for the batters early into the PSL 2024 season. But since the past week, the spinners have managed to generate minimal assistance. Thus, we expect an equal contest between the bat and the ball to play out on Monday. 190 runs is the average first innings score, and chasing seems like an ideal option.

The upcoming PSL 2024 season fixture between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi is evenly poised. While Babar Azam’s side got back to winning ways, United’s squad is struggling to step up as a unit. Thus, we expect Peshawar to win this particular game against Islamabad.
