On day 4 of the Indian versus English Ranchi Test, former English skipper Joe Root struck at the right time to provide a much-needed breakthrough for his side. He broke the opening stand by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal courtesy of James Anderson's brilliant piece of fielding.

India tightened its grip over the fourth Test by bowling out England in two sessions on Day 3. Ashwin went back with an exceptional fifer, whereas Kuldeep Yadav played an anchor role.

India was set up for a 191-run chase, which wasn't a cakewalk at all, owing to the pitch conditions. The cracks from Day 1 had widened up, and spinners were in for a field day on Day 4.

However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and star of the series Yashasvi Jaiswal were adamant about their intent and continued to hit runs in the right areas until Joe Root drew the first blood.

With the game slipping away, Ben Stokes summoned Root on from one end. Meanwhile, Jaiswal's eyes lit up seeing Root as the kid was tempted to attack early to put the veteran under pressure.

However, Jaiswal's adrenaline rush got the better of him. Root bowled a flighted delivery outside the off-stump, and Jaiswal went for the big shot.

But the young opener missed the timing, and the shot traveled to a backward point where 41-year-old James Anderson was racing against time to make the play. He dived into his front to catch the dipping bowl in time.

Anderson was completely aerial when he grabbed the ball and managed to hold on to it to end Jaiswal's stay at the crease.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was on his knees on the other end, visibly disappointed with Jaiswal's careless shot. He reprimanded the kid before the latter walked back to the pavilion.

At the time of publishing, India have lost three wickets in the chase, with the scoreboard reading 100-3 after 26.3 overs.
