India’s Under-19 World Cup winning captains Shafali Verma (2023) and Niki Prasad (2025) came to the rescue for Delhi Capitals in their high-voltage WPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. Pulling off a last-ball heist, the Capitals’ victory also featured heroic contributions from blistering Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland.

Here’s the timeline of how Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals panned out in Vadodara:

MI vs DC Highlights: Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver Lift MI After Pandey’s Opening Burst

Shikha Pandey got the ball swinging at the top for the Delhi Capitals, as the speedster removed both Mumbai Indians openers within the first five overs of the match. Nat Sciver-Brunt at number three led Mumbai Indians’ counterattacking fightback alongside captain Harmanpreet Kaur, considering the two middle-order batters crafted 73 runs together for the third wicket in just 6.3 overs.

Forming forces at a precarious 32-2, both Kaur and Nat Sciver blazed Mumbai Indians past the 100-run mark in just 10.3 overs, with the former chipping in with a fiery 22-ball 42 before falling to Annabel Sutherland at 105-3.

MI vs DC Highlights: Sutherland Keeps Mumbai Indians Down To 164

Following the dismissal of Harmanpreet Kaur, Delhi Capitals bowlers ran through the rest of Mumbai Indians’ batting line-up with relative ease, with Nat Sciver-Brunt alone bearing the brunt of her team’s slog-overs scoring with an unbeaten 80* from just 59 balls.

Alice Capsey (1-25) and Minnu Mani (1-23) picked up the wickets of Amanjot Kaur and Sanskriti Gupta respectively while Annabel Sutherland added Sajeevan Sajana and Saika Ishaque to her tally to claim astonishing figures of 3-34 in 3.1 overs. Three additional run outs did not help Mumbai Indians’ cause either as the 2023 winners folded up for just 164 in 19.5 overs.

MI vs DC Highlights: Shafali Verma Explodes With 18-Ball 43 In Powerplay

Delhi Capitals rushed to 60-1 at the end of the six-over powerplay period, with firebrand opener Shafali Verma herself cracking 43 of those runs from just 18 balls. Verma blasted 22 of those runs in a single Saika Ishaque over earlier in the innings, before she fell to Hayley Matthews in the sixth over of the Capitals run-chase.

The Mumbai Indians bowlers seized the opportunity and picked up three more wickets in quick succession as the Capitals slipped from 60-0 to 76-4 in the space of just three overs.

Shabnim Ismail got the prized scalp of Meg Lanning as the legendary South African speedster finished with 1-18. Amelia Kerr and Nat Sciver-Brunt (1-38) dismissed Jemimah Rodrigues and Annabel Sutherland respectively to lead Mumbai Indians’ spirited fightback.

MI vs DC Highlights: Niki Prasad Catalyzes Delhi Capitals’ Last-Ball Win

Tottering at 76-4, soon to be 109-5 with the fall of Alice Capsey to Amelia Kerr (2-22), number six batter Niki Prasad composed 35 runs at a near run-a-ball to keep Delhi Capitals in the hunt.

Wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce also belted 21 crucial runs from just 10 balls, before Arundhati Reddy (2* off 1) and Radha Yadav (9* off 4) notched up the winning runs off the very last ball with two wickets to spare.
