Axar Patel is the designated captain of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, but unfortunately for the franchise, he is not playing in a must-win game against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede. In his place, Faf du Plessis is leading Delhi Capitals, and he revealed that Axar is out due to sickness.
Delhi Capitals Lose Their Captain In A Must-Win Match
This is a big game for Delhi Capitals, and thus not having their best all-rounder and captain on the field would surely hurt them. In place of Axar, Madhav Tiwari is playing for DC, Mukesh Kumar is also back in place of T Natarajan. Another concern for DC is that KL Rahul is not completely fit, and thus he has not been included in the playing XI and would most likely come in the second half as an Impact Player.
Delhi Capitals started off the season with a bang, winning four matches in a row. However, they have found it tough in the second half with both their bowling and batting arsenal failing to live upto the billing. MI, on the other hand, are looking like a dangerous unit and if they win this game against DC, they would qualify for the playoffs.
It was the last game between the two sides, that changed the momentum for both the teams. DC were cruising at one point in time with Karun Nair belting their bowlers all over the park, however, Santner got the better of him and MI eventually won that game. The five-time champions have been unstoppable since then, and Santner is also back in the playing XI after missing few games due to injury.
