On Wednesday, May 21, Delhi Capitals locked horns against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. It is a do-or-die match for the Capitals as a defeat would see them crash out of the tournament. For the ongoing match, the Capitals won the toss and opted to field first. 

However, the 2020 finalists dealt a heavy blow as regular skipper Axar Patel was ruled out of the crucial match because of fever. It is not the end as KL Rahul was also not a part of the playing XI, leaving the fans worried. Meanwhile, this article will look at why Rahul was not included in the playing XI.

Why Is KL Rahul Not A Part Of DC's Playing XI?

It is worth noting that during a practice session on May 20, a day before the MI vs DC match, Rahul was hit on the knee off a Mukesh Kumar delivery. The India star left the nets immediately and the physios attended him. Further, Rahul has been left out of the playing XI as a precautionary measure and he would return to the playing XI in the 2nd innings as an impact sub.
