The Mumbai Indians franchise is handing out special Rohit Sharma-themed jerseys to fans attending the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai ahead of the match against Delhi Capitals. Notably, the jerseys are inscribed with a popular Rohit Sharma chant.

Earlier this month, the legendary Indian opener was honoured by getting a stand named after him at the Wankhede Stadium. In an eventful last couple of weeks, the cricketer also confirmed his retirement from Tests, bringing an end to his 67-match career.

In a bid to tribute Mumbai Indians opener and former captain Rohit Sharma, the franchise is handing out special jerseys to fans at the Wankhede Stadium before the team’s home fixture against Delhi Capitals.

The jerseys are inscribed with the popular Rohit Sharma fan phrase, “Mumbai cha Raja Rohit Sharma” (Rohit Sharma, the king of Mumbai)

Mumbai Indians last played a match this season back on May 6 against Gujarat Titans before the tournament was put to a 10-day halt by the BCCI. Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, the team is currently ranked fourth on the IPL 2025 points table with seven wins and five defeats from 12 matches.

If Mumbai Indians manage to defeat Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium on May 21, they will become the fourth team to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs after Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In case of a defeat, Mumbai Indians will be required to beat Punjab Kings in their final league match and hope for the Capitals to lose out against the same opponents.
