[Watch] Quinton De Kock Punishes Roshon Primus With A Gigantic Six In CPL 2024
Quinton de Kock smashes a massive six (X)
In the ongoing 13th match of the CPL 2024 at the Kensington Oval Barbados Royals are locking horns against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
Talking about the match, earlier after winning the toss, the Royals elected to bowl first. The Falcons, led by openers Brandon King and Justin Greaves, put on a blistering display in the powerplay and scored 55 runs in the first six overs. However, Keshav Maharaj broke the partnership early in the seventh over and dismissed King.
Sam Billings then joined Greaves at the crease, and the duo kept the momentum going with a partnership of 92 runs. Billings, with his composed approach, supported Greaves and set up a strong platform for the Falcons. Despite their efforts, the middle order faltered as the Falcons lost key wickets towards the end and finished at 176/5.
Quinton de Kock and Alick Athanaze Formed Crucial Partnership
In response chasing a decent target, the Royals faced an early setback when they lost hard-hitting opener Rahkeem Cornwall cheaply.
But Quinton de Kock and Alick Athanaze came together to steady the ship. The pair crafted a 72-run partnership off 52 balls, with de Kock playing a measured yet aggressive knock. However, Athanaze, who looked in top-notched form faced an unfortunate run out that left the Royals in a tricky position.
The Dramatic Over By Roshon Primus
De Kock kept the momentum going, but drama ensued in a never-ending 12th over that turned the game on its head. In that over Roshon Primus struggled to find his line and length, and conceded 23 runs, which included four wides and three no-balls.
The over also featured a thrilling moment as de Kock smashed a massive six off a free hit. Primus delivered a short ball outside off that allowed de Kock to get into position quickly and he launched it over deep backward square leg for a towering six.
However, despite the runs piling up, Roshon Primus finally managed to redeem himself and dismissed the South African star in that very over.
The Royals now need to regroup after the loss of de Kock, although there is another dramatic turn rain has interrupted the match and 50 runs in 33 balls with Powell and David Miller at the crease.
