The Barbados Royals are facing the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the 13th match of the CPL 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. After winning the toss, the Royals put the Falcons to bat in the game.

Billings and Greaves ensured that the Falcons put on a fighting total on the board

The Falcons had a good start to their innings, as their openers Brandon King and Justin Greaves stitched a 50-plus partnership within the powerplay. Greaves continued along with Sam Billings after King's departure and propelled the team towards a fighting total.

Billings and Greaves' half-centuries helped the Falcons reach 176/5 in their 20 overs. It looked like the Falcons would go past the 190 mark; however, the loss of a few wickets towards the end of the innings meant that they fell short of that.

De Kock and Athanaze kept the Royals in the hunt

Despite losing Rahkeem Cornwall early in the chase, the Royals found stability with a crucial 72-run partnership between Quinton de Kock and Alick Athanaze. Just when it seemed they would lead the Royals to victory, they fell within a span of 11 deliveries, adding 20 runs to the total.

Athanaze's demise brought the Royals' skipper, Rovman Powell, into the middle. David Miller joined him in the centre to take the team to its third win of the tournament.

Green's effort was not enough to get the better of Powell's power

Rovman Powell took a few deliveries to settle in and then began to accelerate. On the second delivery of the 14th over, Kofi James bowled a full delivery outside the off stump to Powell. The batter swung with full force, sending the ball soaring towards long-off. Chris Green, fielding in the deep, made a valiant effort but couldn't prevent it from being a maximum.

At the time of writing the play is halted due to rain. The Barbados Royals are stationed at 124/3 in 14 overs, needing 53 runs off 36 deliveries to win the game.
