In the 13th match of the CPL 2024 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons got off to a flying start against the Barbados Royals. After Royals' captain, Rovman Powell won the toss and opted to field, the Falcons' openers, Brandon King and Justin Greaves displayed explosive batting.

Royals openers Brandon King and Justin Greaves quickly found their rhythm and exploited the powerplay to build a crucial 55-run partnership in just 37 balls.

Greaves, in particular, played a crucial knock and made 61 runs in 52 balls while perfectly executing his shots with both precision and power. His stroke play kept the pressure on the Royals' bowlers and forced them into defensive positions.

Brandon King, while playing a more controlled innings, anchored the partnership with calculated aggression. However, just when it seemed like the Falcons' openers would continue their dominance, Keshav Maharaj provided the Royals with a breakthrough and scalped an important wicket of King.

Adding to the Royals' troubles were several fielding errors, which included dropped catches and missed opportunities, which allowed the Falcons to build momentum.

Barbados’ bowlers, struggled for control and appeared rattled, and their frustrations culminated when Jason Holder bowled an untimely no-ball for height, that offered the Falcons a free hit. The sloppy display on the field compounded the Royals’ woes, as the Falcons capitalised on the mistakes to put themselves in a commanding position.

Attempting to mix up his pace, Holder delivered a full toss that sailed above waist height, well over the legal limit. The ball slipped out of his hands as Sam Billings, anticipating the delivery, moved down the pitch but was forced to take evasive action.

The delivery sailed harmlessly to the fielder, but due to the high full toss, it was immediately called a no-ball.

In the middle overs, the Falcons lost several wickets at regular intervals although Justin Greaves made 61 runs in 52 balls and Sam Billings made 56 runs in 43 balls. In the end, the Falcons managed to score a competitive total of 176/5.
