Promising opener Zakir Hasan grabbed a magnificent catch to help Hasan Mahmud scalp the crucial wicket of Abdullah Shafique in the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Regarded for his scintillating stroke play, Abdullah Shafique was expected to dominate the Tigers in the high-stakes face-off. However, his innings was cut short by Zakir's excellent catch at the gully region.

The incident occurred during the fourth over of Pakistan's innings after Bangladesh opted to bowl first

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto's decision to bring Hasan paid off, with the right-arm seamer getting rid of Shafique.

From over the wicket, Hasan bowled a full-length delivery, inviting Shafique for a drive. As he was looking to break the shackles, the opener fell in his trap, miscuing the drive.

The ball flew towards the gully, where Zakir Hasan flew towards his right to claim a magnificent catch.

After Shafique's dismissal, skipper Shan Masood joined Saim Ayub in the middle. As of writing, the hosts were in a spot of bother, placed at 3/1 in 5.2 overs.

After the game began at 2.30 PM local time, the visiting pacers have exploited the seam-friendly conditions in Rawalpindi. So, given the contest between bat and ball, a riveting battle is expected on day 1 of the Test match.
