India's rising star Mayank Yadav, who broke into the scene during IPL 2024, is currently at NCA nursing an injury and eyeing a return to competitive cricket.

Mayank, who features for Lucknow Super Giants, took the IPL by storm after he bamboozled the opponent with his pace. He even stole the limelight after he clocked 156 kmph on the speed gun and was touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket.

However, Yadav's IPL was cut short because of injury and since he hasn't been able to return to competitive cricket.

Recently, BCCI secretary, Jay Shah spoke about Mayank and stated that the board is keeping an eye on him and can't rush him to avoid further setbacks.

Paras Mhambrey's Take On Yadav

Meanwhile, former India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has slammed the cricket pundits and assessed that Mayank should bowl more and more if he wants to return to competitive cricket.

“I don’t agree that if he is not ready, just don’t play him. This is the age where he has to bowl. A bowler should bowl. The more you bowl, the more you will have control, you will know your threshold as to how much your body can take. You can’t wrap him up in cotton wool saying he will get injured. We can’t over bowl and burn him out but we have to be smart about how much he should bowl. As a fast bowler, he needs to play first-class cricket,” Paras Mhambrey told The Indian Express.

There were even reports that Mayank might be considered for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in November, but it has been six weeks since he has been at the NCA.
