Yashasvi Jaiswal, the charismatic Indian opener known for his consistent run-scoring and aggressive brand of cricket has failed to deliver in a tricky run-chase in the third Test match against New Zealand. New Zealand set the target of 147 for India, but Indian batters have faltered once again and one of them is Yashasvi Jaiswal who could muster just five runs.
Glenn Phillips Shows His Class Again
It was an in-drifter from the off-spinner Glenn Phillips. He came 'round the wicket and the ball went with the angle into the batter. Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to defend it, but missed it as the ball hit his pad. The New Zealand fielders and the bowler went up in appeal, as soon as the ball hit the pad and the umpire too raised the finger. Yashasvi had some discussion with his partner Pant and took the DRS.
It turned out to be a close DRS call as the UltraEdge showed spike close to the bat, but the umpire after repeated replays confirmed that it was ball hitting the pad first. The Ball Tracking then showed three Reds, and the original decision of out was confirmed.
After the wicket of Jaiswal, India also lost Sarfaraz Khan and they were reduced for 29-5 in no time. However, Pant kept his positive attitude going and scored runs at a quick rate as Jadeja gave him decent support. He departed though in the 16th over and India were reduced to 71 for 6 with 76 runs still needed to win the game.
