It has been a roller coaster ride in the Wankhede Test match as the match has swung like a pendulum and now it is in India's court as the home side look to salvage some pride after winning the match.
If Day 1 belonged to the visiting Kiwi side, then Day 2 surely was India's day as the Rohit Sharma led side produced a stellar performance to swung the match in their favour. At one stage in the first innings, India had lost 4 quick wickets before Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant added 96-runs for the fifth wicket and steered India out of a precarious situation.
Jadeja ran riot as India need 147 to win the 3rd Test
While Pant scored a quick-fire 60, Gill went a notch ahead and nearly missed out on a ton as he was dismissed for a well-compiled 90 runs. New Zealand thought they had a chance in the second innings, but Ravindra Jadeja ran riot and was the chief destroyer in the second innings with a five-wicket haul.
The wicket in the second innings assisted the spinners and the spin duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ran riot as they bowled at right lines and lengths to trouble the Kiwi batters.
This was Jadeja's 15th five-wicket haul in Test cricket as the off-break bowler delivered the goods when India needed him the most. While all the Kiwi batters failed, Will Young was the only one who gave up a fight and scored a crucial fifty to keep his side alive in the contest.
But that wasn't enough as the spinners picked wickets at regular intervals to knock over New Zealand for a paltry 174 runs. India need 147 to win the match and get crucial points in regards to the WTC points table.
