High drama unfolded on the final day of the first unofficial Test between India A and Australia A as the umpire accused Ruturaj Gaikwad and co. of ball tampering just before the start of the day. It created lot of tension in the middle with Indian players not happy with the a different ball handed to them, and Ishan Kishan was involved in an ugly war of words with the umpire.

Australia A needed 86 to win on the final day and as the players walked out to the middle, the umpire Shawn Craig handed the Indian team, a new ball. When the Indian players protested about the change of ball, the umpire told them that they changed the ball because the Indian team scratched it and there would be no more discussion on the topic.

However, Indian players were clearly not happy and tried to argue with the umpire, but he did not pay attention to Indian demands and kept telling players to start the game. The Indian wicketkeeper, Ishan Kishan in the heat of the moment then told the umpire that it is a 'stupid decision' and it did not go well with Shawn Craig. He replied back to Ishan Kishan and told him that he would be reported for the dissent

Umpire: “When you scratch it, we change the ball. No more discussion, let’s play. This is not a discussion."

It is not clear which specific players were accused of changing the nature of the ball and it remains to be seen how the things unfold after this highly controversial incident. Meanwhile, Australia A notched up a comfortable win when the play started as their skipper Nathan McSweeney and Beau Webster scored unbeaten fifties to take their side over the line with seven wickets to spare. The Aussies have taken a lead of 1-0 and the next game will be played on November 7 at MCG.
