On Sunday, September 22, India registered a record-breaking win after beating Bangladesh by 280 runs in the series opener at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Ravichandran Ashwin was the star player as the local hero won the Player of the Match award for his heroics with the bat and the ball.

Ashwin stepped in at a crucial time for India in the recently concluded match as he first performed with the bat and smashed his 6th Test hundred in the first innings. The right-arm off-spinner came to bat when India were 144/6. He stitched a 199-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja and pulled the hosts out of trouble.

Further, Ashwin shone with the ball in the second innings of the match, taking a six-wicket haul to restrict Bangladesh to just 234 runs. Ashwin's heroics helped India register their biggest win against the Tigers in Test cricket in terms of runs.

It was R Ashwin's 37th five-wicket haul, and he broke a plethora of records with his feat, including 62-year-old Vinoo Mankad's record of becoming the oldest Indian to take a fifer in Test cricket. It was not as Ashwin scripted several other feats, such as equalling Shane Warne's record.

The entire Chepauk stadium was in awe of their local star, and even the Indian players, including Virat Kohli, hailed Ashwin's magic against Bangladesh. In the latest developments, a video has been doing rounds on the internet, in which Virat was captured bowing down to Ashwin after he completed his five-wicket haul.

It was a magical atmosphere at the Chepauk stadium as the fans were singing Ashwin's name. Talking about Virat, he did not perform with the bat as expected, but was a live wire in the field. Kohli celebrated each wicket in his typical style and displayed aggression on the field from the moment he stepped onto the pitch.
