Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin was the biggest star in India's win against Bangladesh in the first Test match in Chennai. The star player not only performed with the ball, but was also exceptional with the bat, scoring a stunning century.

He came into bat in the first innings when Team India had lost its star power at the top and needed some solidity in the middle-overs. Ashwin, a brilliant batter in sub-continent conditions scored a brilliant hundred and rescued India from a precarious situation.

He failed to pick up a single wicket with the ball in the first innings, but was back to his absolute best in Bangladesh's second innings. The wily spinner grabbed a 5-wicket haul and finished with figures of 6 for 88 as India triumphed over Bangladesh with utmost ease.

By picking up a 5-wicket-haul, Ashwin broke Aussie spinner, Nathan Lyon's record of most 5-wicket hauls in World Test Championship (WTC). In 43 WTC Tests, Lyon has ten 5-wicket hauls, and Ashwin now has 11 fifers in just 36 Test matches.
