Pakistan have started day 3 of the first Test against South Africa on a positive note as Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel completed a fifty-run stand for the fourth wicket. With the partnership, the two batters reduced the trail and also took the lead for Pakistan.

Talking about Babar Azam, he struggled early on with the uneven bounce and got a few lucky fours off the edge. However, Azam also showed his batting prowess and played a few brilliant strokes. Meanwhile, South African fielders too brought their A game and were at their finest in the field.

Tristan Stubbs And Zorzi Escape Major Injury

However, there was one such incident where Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs avoided a nasty collision. The incident occurred on the 5th ball of the 60th over when Babar Azam guided a shot towards the leg side, and both fielders ran hard across different areas of the ground to stop the ball from the boundary.

However, they nearly collided and were unaware of each other's position. Eventually, Zorzi put in a slide and nearly pulled off to a football-like tackle to knock Tristan Stubbs out. Luckily, both fielders were safe and escaped it unharmed.

Babar Azam Departs After A Fifty

Talking about the ongoing match, Pakistan are in a commanding position as they have put 158/4 on the board and Babar Azam ended his runs drought in red-ball cricket.

The former Pakistan skipper smashed his first Test fifty after 19 innings. He last scored one in December 2022 against New Zealand. However, he soon threw his wicket away cheaply and gave a simple catch to fielder at the boundary ropes.
